On Wednesday 8th March 2017 a Blue Plaque will be unveiled by the Lord Mayor of Newcastle to commemorate the suffragette Kathleen Brown's release from prison in 1909.
The event will coincide with International Women's Day (IWD2017) and also mark a celebration of the life and work of Kathleen Brown, a local woman from Newcastle upon Tyne, political activist and protester, imprisoned a total of three times for demonstrating at public venues.
The plaque will be placed outside the Turks Head Hotel on Grey Street at noon, the location where Kathleen celebrated her release from prison.
